While some people went to warmer climates (or just away), I stayed in the, um, “Vern”. Am I crazy? No. Just cheap.
I suppose this is the part where I entertain you all with a deep analysis of crazy beach parties and late night bar crawling, but nah. That’s not my area of expertise.
Unlike some of my friends, who where partying it up on some tropical island...
I however was able to enjoy a good week of movies. I was popping popcorn and sipping on expensive, $17.00, bottles of wine like it was my job. Surprisingly enough I had the opportunity to watch a bootlegged copy of The Kings Speech with my mom. To anyone who has yet to watch it, I definitely recommend it. I even had the chance to enjoy snow, rain, and cold weather. Something I've never seen before. Winnnning. While my friends were just about getting ready to go out in their "guayaberas", Spanish for "a men's shirt popular in Latin American, the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, and Zimbabwe. It is also referred to as a "Mexican Wedding Shirt"-Wikipedia, I was at home brushing my teeth and getting ready for bed. And instead of traveling across the Mexican border to risk being kidnapped by the drug cartels, I played it safe. I sat behind my TV and watched so many episodes of the Jersey Shore that it almost made me think that The Situation was funny...
Just kidding. But in all seriousness I actually was able to get a lot done back at home. I spent the majority of the week networking with businesses and finishing up informational interviews over the phone. I'm currently in the later stages of interviewing with some of the largest staffing firms in the country. All of which seem really excited to meet with me. If everything works out as planned I should pretty much have a job locked in by graduation. I hope missing out on frolicking in pools and enjoying the sun and sand will pay off.
I wish I could have stayed home and just watched movies and tv all week! I probably would have had 10 times more fun than the spring break I had.
